We all want beautiful skin, but what about healthy skin? Don't we need that in order to be beautiful? I sure think so.
If our skin is unhealthy, it may be able to be made to look beautiful with makeup or even plastic surgery, but once the makeup is taken off, then what? And if you have to resort to plastic surgery, if there isn't a healthy bases to keep the skin nourished aren't you just going to need surgery again?
I'm certainly not one to go the plastic surgery route. For one thing I can't afford it, and another thing I don't like surgery. To be put under anesthetic for a life threatening disease or a broken bone that needs taken care of is one thing, but to put drugs in my veins for vanity purposes is not my cup of tea. If it is yours, and you have the bucks go ahead, but my advice to you is that you will still work on keeping your skin healthy, because without health, life isn't much fun.
To have truly healthy skin we must first start with what we eat and drink. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits and nuts. They have plenty of antioxidants that can combat what free radicals do to our cells. Some foods that are particularly high in antioxidants are blueberries, cranberries, pinto beans, red beans, apples, pecans and artichokes.
Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated. The skin needs water as much as the rest of the body. Green tea is also high in antioxidants. If you drink the decaf kind, you won't get as many. Depending on the way the tea is decaffeinated determines how many antioxidants are left. A good rule of thumb is only count on half the amount in decaf.
If you are a smoker and want to keep your skin healthy and nice looking, you should strongly consider getting some help to give up the habit. Smoking depletes your skin of vital oxygen and other nutrients. Also excessive alcohol depletes the skin of nourishment.
The skin care products you use will also play a part in healthy skin. You don't want to use ingredients that will harm your skin or your health, so be aware of the dangers of many chemicals used in skin care products. There isn't any use trying for nice looking healthy skin when our bodies fall about due to disease.
Parabens, acrylamide, dioxane, octyl dimethyl, phenol carbolic acid, and polyethylene glycol (PEG) to name a few dangerous chemicals often found in skin care. These can be carcinogenic, which leads to cancer in our bodies.
Also mineral oil will build up under the skin preventing the skin to get the nourishment it needs. Alcohol used in skin care products is vey drying and strips away the skin's natural acids that will leave you at risk for skin viruses, bacteria, and mold.
Don't use products with any of these things mentioned above if you want healthy skin. There are also many skin care ingredients that will nourish your skin. Grapeseed oil, active manuka honey, avocado oil, shea butter, natural vitamin E, and coenzyme Q10 are a few of the healthy ingredients in my skin care products. Don't settle for just beautiful skin my way of makeup, when you can have healthy skin that will look beautiful when the makeup is off.
