A large number of diets more or less make you change your eating habits immediately to help you lose weight, which is not a good thing because although you will find it fairly easy to start with but the motivation soon goes and the cravings will soon return. The secret to lose weight is to change your eating habits slowly. Experts recommend a diet that contains approximately 40% Carbohydrates, 30% proteins and 30% fats. Yes, you do need some fats in your diet as that is what turns into energy so do not cut it out completely.
The following diet tips will hopefully help you to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight loss plan
1. Don't feel guilty about eating. It is a mistake to make food a sin. All those nutrients are essential for a healthy diet, even the fats. You just have to ensure that you have them in moderation. You can give yourself a treat once in a while that contains your favourite foods. This will help prevent those cravings and you will have something to look forward to.
2. Drink fluids regularly. Sometimes when we think we are hungry, it is just our body telling us we are actually thirsty. Take a drink and if you're still hungry then maybe have some fruit or vegetables like carrot sticks or celery.
3. Join a fitness class. Doing exercise will help the body's metabolism and circulation. But if your lifestyle prevents you from going (we all lead busy lives) maybe go for a brisk walk instead or better still, you can get yourself a fitness DVD ie Aerobics as that is good for Cardio and gets the heart going and the blood pumping.
4. Cut out unhealthy foods gradually. You can slowly cut out unhealthy foods like crisps, biscuits or food that is high in fat to help you slim down to your ideal weight. Do this gradually and after a while you will find that the cravings are not as bad and you won't need to snack.
5. Invest in some natural, herbal slimming pills. There are a lot of slimming pills around and most of them are not very effective and possibly contain some kind of chemicals. But there are some very good herbal ones that are 100% natural and can help. Hoodia and Appesat are a couple of good herbal ones that are proven. Do some research and try to find the good ones.
6. Eat regularly. Instead of having breakfast and 2 main meals a day, try to have a decent healthy breakfast and then split your meals into 5 or 6 smaller portions throughout the day. This way, it will help you avoid snacking and keep your metabolism working which in turn helps you to burn calories.
Follow these tips and you will surely be on the road to a healthy, long term weight loss. Remember, it is not a good idea to try to go on a crash diet and shed the weight quickly as it is not very healthy and most people will put straight back on again.
