The quality of water we drink has a significant effect on our health, as the most integral parts of our body mainly consist of water. The human body itself is 70% water, the brain 85% water and blood is 90%, and one of our most important organs, liver is 96% water.
With the increasing number of industries every year, water gets exceedingly polluted and has more toxins than ever before.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency USA (EPA) records, 2,100 cancer causing chemicals have been detected in US water supplies. Currently America is using over 80,000 toxic chemicals, and over 1000 new ones are being produced every year. What’s worse is we don’t have the slightest idea of how these dangerous chemicals are going to react in the long-term; the risk of exposure and its effects are uncountable and unpredictable. What happens if 10, 20 or may be 50 traces of varied dangerous Synthetic Organic Chemicals (SOCs) are found in one single glass of water? We are learning more and more every day but unfortunately, after most of the damages have already been done.
Gone are the days, when 1 in 50 Americans could expect to get cancer. That was 70 years ago, before we had all those dangerous chemicals in our water. Now it is expected in 1 in 3, 1 in 2 males. The increase in this percentage of people getting affected by it is due to the increase in synthetic chemicals in the water. It in fact has a direct relation. All over the world, all over America or any other country, wherever the water is contaminated by dangerous synthetic chemicals, you are likely to find the highest rate of degenerative diseases. In United States, San Francisco is the place where the highest levels of THM’s and breast cancer can be found. Trihalomethanes (THMs) are a by-product of chlorination, a water treatment process. As far as the VOCs colon and bladder cancers are concerned, New Orleans beats them all. New York City has the highest level of problems connected to it, such as learning disabilities in children and high blood pressure in men…an obvious and strong relationship is evident.
One measure that can be taken by an individual, in order to avoid these deadly diseases is to drink more water. This does not take too much effort. A person can do that just by using a bigger glass. Don’t follow the old rules of drinking 8-ounce glass of water each day, as it was published in the medical journals 70 years ago, we need to realize things were different back then, the level of exposure was different, no traces of synthetic chemicals in our water and air could be found, no pesticide residue on our food, the scenario was totally different if we compare it to the present situation. So instead of drinking 8-ounce glasses of water make it 12-ounce glasses a day. 64 ounces of water will be used by our body just for the basics each day: skin hydration, digestion, temperature control, energy production. “The more we drink, the more we allow our bodies to purify” if we follow this simple rule it will enable our body to detox and flush out the toxins that make their way in. Storing your water in a clean glass, results in making it look better, ready to drink and it might even taste better.
Drink at least 10-12 glasses a day at a minimum, as it’s always better to drink more than the minimum level.
The most important health measure that we can take is increasing the quality and quantity of the water we drink. Alkaline Ionized Water is the healthiest water. It is electrically charged and is up to 6 times more hydrating than normal bottled, distilled or tap water.
