Everyone makes it sound so easy to lose weight, all you must do is stop eating as much and become more active.  But that's easier said than done.  Here are some common reasons why you may not be losing as much weight as you think you should.

1.  Are you snacking too much? You may be fooling yourself into thinking snacking is better than big meals but if you're snacking lots and on the wrong foods then you're doing your body no favours.  Snacking can also be associated to boredom rather than hunger so make sure you keep yourself occupied.

2. Are you mistaking thirst for hunger? This is a common mistake and the best way to check is to have a drink first and see how you feel.

3.  How big are your portions? This is something to watch out for.  You may think that because your eating healthier foods that you can eat as much as you like.  However, with items like fish and chicken for example, you should be controlling portion sizes.

4.  Are you eating at irregular times? If you eat late at night then your food doesn't have time to be burned off with activities during the day so it is stored as fat.

5.  Are you eating enough? If you don't eat enough then your body goes into starvation mode which causes it to  stores fat to survive.  When you start eating a bit more your body holds onto fat because it's confused by your the eating patterns.  Stick to a balanced diet and you'll be on the right track.
