Physical Reasons Why You May Not Be Getting Pregnant | ArticlesBase.com

So you and your partner have decided to start a family! You might be wondering why it is taking so long. Are we doing something wrong? And finally, is there something wrong with me? These are all natural concerns and questions that couples ask when starting a family is taking longer than what they thought it should, and especially when it seems like other couples are getting pregnant faster. In this article, we will be discussing physical reasons why you may not be getting pregnant and causing your infertility.

Smoking: Studies have shown that men and women who smoke are 60% more likely to become infertile due to the over 2,000 chemicals in cigarettes and smoke which causes sperm damage in men and egg depletion in women. Women who smoke before and during pregnancy risk their unborn child’s health as well as risk having higher odds of complications with their pregnancy and delivery.

Obesity: If a women’s BMI or Body Mass Index is over 25, you are considered over weight and are prone to health risks. Here’s the problem, when a woman is over weight her hormones become unbalanced. The fat cells in her body produce more estrogen (more than what is needed) which in turn acts like birth control.

Wrong Timing for Intercourse: If you want to become pregnant fast it is important to time it exactly, especially if you are in your 40’s. For most women ovulation occurs 14 days before her next menstrual cycle, not after. For example, if a woman’s cycle is every 25 days, she should be ovulating on her 10 th day. There are tools on the market today that make it easier to pinpoint when a woman is reaching her fertility peak. Such tools include basal thermometers that detect the rise and fall of your body temperature and ovulation kits that will sense LH surges.

Stress: Stress is a major cause for infertility as well as other health risks. We all live in a world today that is stretched and stressed to the max and sometimes learning how to eliminate stress can almost seem impossible! Taking time for yourself is so important and vital to your fertility. Try taking at least 30 minutes to an hour a day to exercise. This could be as simple as walking in the evening or during your lunch. This also means without interruption from anyone and that includes a cell phone or pager! This is a time for you to clear your mind and do something for yourself. No exceptions!

Poor Diet: Diet believe it or not has a lot to do with your fertility, probably more than you know. As a society we are constantly on the go and it is hard to sit down and eat a balanced meal. Between work, social gatherings, married life, church and older kids we loose the time to really look at what we are consuming. Fast food, junk food and processed foods are our way of life! Many of these foods that we consume contain chemicals that decrease our fertility and causes hormonal imbalances in our bodies. Becoming pregnant is a complex issue and requires our body and it’s organs to function properly. If one thing is not working properly such as one’s hormones, this will hinder a woman from conceiving.
